Bee themed bulletin boards are a delightful and engaging way to create a warm, inviting atmosphere in the classroom. This theme is a classic one that encourages an atmosphere of hard work and co-operation. These boards can be used at the start of the school year to welcome students with messages like “Bee-lieve in Yourself” or “Buzzing into a New School Year.” Adding smiling cartoon bees, honeycombs, and flowers enhances the visual appeal and sets a positive tone for learning.

Bee themes are also excellent for promoting classroom values such as teamwork, kindness, and hard work. Messages like “We Bee-long Together,” “Bee Kind,” and “Busy Bees at Work” reinforce important social-emotional skills while making students feel part of a united classroom community. You can include student names on individual bees or honeycomb cells to create a sense of ownership and inclusion.

Bee themed bulletin boards are versatile enough to be used all year round. During spring, a “Watch Us Bloom and Buzz” board could showcase student growth or academic achievements. For goal-setting and tracking progress, a “Buzzing Toward Our Goals” display can help keep students motivated. You can also create interactive boards where students add bees each time they complete a task or reach a milestone.

Crafting a bee-themed bulletin board also offers a great opportunity to integrate cross-curricular learning. Incorporate facts about bees for science units, or use them as inspiration for writing prompts or reading activities. Whether you’re highlighting student work, introducing a new topic, or simply adding charm to your space, a bee-themed bulletin board is both functional and fun.

This third grade bee bulletin board and the bee door were made by Mrs. Speelman, a third grade teacher. I love how she used the honey comb letters and the blank honey comb pieces for spacing out the words. She shared her classroom pictures in this post on the 3rd grade teachers Facebook group.

She printed out letters to make the words ‘YOU BEE-LONG’ on the bulletin board, and ‘3RD GRADE, THE PLACE TO BEE’ on her classroom door. The little bee cut-outs and the honeycomb on the tree branch are all part of the set. Thank you Mrs. Speelman.
