Classroom Rugs for elementary classrooms are both functional for floor seating as well as aesthetically pleasing. There are also subject matter rugs that have valuable content printed, that is colorful and attractive for students to want to read them. Generally, rugs make a classroom seem warmer and more inviting, more ‘homey’. They also give you a focal point that you can integrate your classroom theme or colors with.

Classroom Seating Carpets
Classroom Seating rugs come in different sizes and some can seat up to 36 students. They have a specified number of sit spots on them that are evenly spaced for your students to sit comfortable on them with enough personal space of their own.

Classroom Rug Alternatives
Classroom carpets are oversized, hefty, and expensive. Some alternatives to classroom rugs are foam tiles, floor seating cushions, and individual seating carpets.
Did you know that there are seating foam tile sets that work just like seating rugs. Each tile is 2′ x 2′, wide enough for seating children. Available in circle seats or square seats. Foam tiles can also come with a plush carpet covering on the top so that it looks like a plush rug.

Use these colorful foam tiles as a classroom rug or for flexible seating. The soft foam protects floors from scratches and it is the right thickness to cushion a fall.
These round stackable floor cushion circles are another option.

Individual seating carpets and mats are wonderful for helping students with respecting personal space. They make the process of moving to a new space or changing the seating arrangement very easy to accomplish. I like that the plush is thick and comfortable.
