Christmas Degrees of Adjectives worksheets and Flashcards

If you need to teach your students about Christmas Degrees of Adjectives, there are printable worksheets and flashcards for ordering comparative and superlative degrees. I also created an online interactive activity for the comparison of adjectives using the Boom Learning platform. Each of these activities are Christmas themed for practicing sorting comparative adjectives. The three degrees of comparison for adjectives are the positive degree, comparative degree, and superlative degree.

Christmas Degrees of Adjectives

Seasonal Christmas Degrees of Adjectives Worksheets: This set of 20-page printable worksheets cover the six rules for positive, comparative, and superlative adjectives. It is suitable for 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade students. The fourth graders can practice all of the rules for degrees of adjetives. You’ll get six list tables, six comparison mats, two worksheets with answer keys, and one Trifold foldable to add to interactive notebooks.

Rules for Degrees of Adjectives with Examples

The adjectives used in this set are sorted by the six rules:

  • Rule 1: Add ‘er’ or ‘est’. These adjectives are full, bright, short, sweet, warm, soft, etc.
  • Rule 2: Double the ending consonant and add ‘er’ or ‘est’. These adjectives are hot, big, thin, fat, flat, red, etc.
  • Rule 3: Drop the silent ‘e’, then add ‘er’ or ‘est’. These adjectives are cute, large, wide, tame, blue, white, etc.
  • Rule 4: Change the ‘y’ to an ‘i’, then add ‘er’ or ‘est’. These adjectives are sleepy, shiny, heavy, jolly, happy, hungry, etc.
  • Rule 5: Add the word ‘more’ or ‘most’ before the word. These adjectives are joyful, beautiful, delicious, tired, helpful, studious, etc.
  • Rule 6 for Irregular adjectives or adverbs: Use three different words. These adjectives are good, bad, much, little, and many.

These printable flashcards are great for the revision and drill of common adjectives that are Christmas related. All three degree of adjectives are on each card, along with a matching image to represent the adjective. There are 35 Christmas degrees of adjectives cards for each of these adjectives: full, bright, short, sweet, warm, soft, hot, big, thin, fat, flat, red, cute, large, wide, tame, blue, white, sleepy, shiny, heavy, jolly, happy, hungry, joyful, beautiful, delicious, tired, helpful, studious, good, bad, much, little, and many.
