Polygon Worksheets for Grade 3

Polygon Worksheets for Grade 3

I created these Polygon Worksheets for Grade 3 with answers in a Printable PDF, but they work for Grade 2 and Grade 4 as well. These worksheets are all about Triangles, Quadrilaterals and other Polygons. What’s a 2D shape? A polygon? Is a square also a rhombus? To answer these questions and more, let me introduce my 2D Shapes, Polygons and Squiggles Worksheets. It also comes with an interective Easel activity for online learning.

These polygon worksheets for grade 3 is from my TpT collection. You get to download them instantly upon purchase and they can be used for years because you’ll have lifetime access to the files. You will be notified if I make any updates to the files and any updated versions will be available to you.

Polygon Worksheets for Grade 3

This colorfully illustrated packet of Polygon Worksheets for Grade 3 teaches about types of triangles, quadrilaterals, and polygons.  It has graphic organizers, charts, a sorting game, and other activities to both reinforce and introduce the higher learning concepts about 2D shapes. Topics covered are the properties of each shape, the different shape families, the prefixes of the different polygons and the different names by which they are known. Examples and non-examples are shown via graphic organizers.

These are great activities for students to learn about polygons and 3D shapes in a hands-on way. It teaches about the characteristics of polygons. If you want to see more pictures of the Polygon Worksheets for Grade 3, check out the thumbnails on the TpT page for it here.

Standards Covered in These Polygon Worksheets for Grade 3

CCSS2.G.A.1: Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.

CCSS3.G.A.1: Understand that shapes in different categories (e.g., rhombuses, rectangles, and others) may share attributes (e.g., having four sides), and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.

CCSS5.G.B.3: Understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. For example, all rectangles have four right angles and squares are rectangles, so all squares have four right angles.

The standards below are added because the Polygon Worksheets for Grade 3 teach about the prefixes for the different polygons and the different names they are known by in American and British English.

CCSSL.4.4b: Use common, grade-appropriate Greek and Latin affixes and roots as clues to the meaning of a word (e.g., telegraph, photograph, autograph).

CCSSL.5.4b: Use common, grade-appropriate Greek and Latin affixes and roots as clues to the meaning of a word (e.g., photograph, photosynthesis).
